About David
The son of two Blochairn Fruit Market workers, David Linden grew up and was educated at schools in the East End, where he still lives today with his two young children, Isaac and Jessica.
David served for seven years as a Member of the UK House of Commons, representing the constituency of Glasgow East from 2017-2024. Outwith his career in politics, David worked for Glasgow Credit Union, ran his own business and was a Director at the Good Faith Partnership LLP, a social consultancy which works on the role of faith in civil society. He was elected to the Scottish Parliament in May 2026 with a majority of 5,103 votes over Reform UK.
David’s main policy interests focus on housing, health, education, justice and advocating for small businesses. Away from politics, David is a keen runner. He has run six London marathons, raising over £20,000 for local charities in and around Glasgow. When not watching Airdrieonians FC, where he’s a season ticket holder with his kids, David regularly takes part in cold water plunging/ice bathing. We’ll leave it to you to decide which of David’s ideas of downtime sound least painful…
Although the constituency name is officially designated by Boundaries Scotland as ‘Glasgow Baillieston and Shettleston’, this is actually a bit of a misnomer and doesn't give a proper picture of the communities David represents. The constituency boundary runs from the Baillieston roundabout in the east to Cumbernauld Road in the west, with the northern boundary being the M8 motorway, and the southern boundary being the River Clyde.
If you live in Baillieston, Shettleston, Riddrie, Carntyne, Cranhill, Tollcross, Auchenshuggle, Mount Vernon, Swinton, Broomhouse, Wellhouse, Easthall and Carmyle, then David is your constituency Member of the Scottish Parliament.
